About the Club:
Faced with the choices (err, lack of) finding a Model Railroad club in the Yuba/Sutter area of California without having to drive over an hour either north or south, I have decided to start my own layout and at the same time try to start a local club that will benefit all model railroaders of the Yuba/Sutter area.

I hope to accomplish this by first converting my garage into a comfortable living area that will have room for my personal layout and which will become the club's meeting area and place of business. The club, once established, will have operating sessions based on availability of operators and have weekly work sessions of members' layouts. At this time no dedicated "club layout" is planned until we can establish our membership and find a "permanent" home.

Club Goals and Mission:
Some club goals are, but not limited to:

• Allow our members to fuel thier passion for railroading. (model and prototype)
• Offer model railroaders of all experience levels the ability to learn and teach thier skills to others.
• Promote the joys and fascination of model and prototype railroads to the public by participating in local fairs/community events.
• Collect, protect and promote the local railroading history of the Southern Pacific, Western Pacific (including Sacramento Northern) and Northern Electric by having relationships with railroad historical societies.
• Have fun!

As the only current member is myself, I am currently looking for individuals or groups that share those same goals to help create the Sutter Buttes Model Railroad Club and guide it through it's infancy. For more information please contact Richard at info@buttesmrc.org.
